Wanted: HaRav Dov Lior

According to INN, an arrest warrant has been issued against the Rabbi of Kiryat Arba, HaRav Dov Lior, after the Rav refused to show up for questioning regarding his approval of the book Torat HaMelech by Rabbi Yitzchak Shapira, which discusses the laws of killing non-Jews during a war.

Last summer, the Rav defended his approval of the book, citing that "rabbis are elected representatives, chosen to express the Torah's knowledge. They must share the halachic dictate and not fear the repercussions."

Knesset member Michael Ben-Ari (National Union) harshly criticized the arrest warrant. The Council of Binyamin and Samaria Residents said the warrant was "a declaration of war by the State Prosecution against the Jewish faith and its standard bearers." The council also said: "This warrant is a spit in the face of the generations of the Jewish nation...We call upon whoever cares about the Jewish character of his nation to get up and resist - even physically - the wild and anti-Jewish act."
